Welcome to Room 28
Hello, I am Kathleen Bock and I have been teaching fourth grade at Standing Bear for 10 years. Before working in education, I worked in gerontology and counseling. I have been married for 33 years to my wonderful husband Andy, and we have three grown boys. Peter lives in Chicago and works in sales, Matt is an engineer in Pittsburgh, and John is finishing college at UNO. When I am not at school I like to exercise, read, needlepoint, ride bikes and spend time traveling and visiting friends and family.
I look forward to seeing you at Standing Bear's Back to School Night on Monday, August 12th, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Feel free to email me anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students, be prepared to discover yourself as a reader this year in Room 28. Students will be increasing their comprehension skills through daily practice during Daily 3+1. My expectation is for students to read daily, at least 20 minutes.
Reading daily during the summer is a good habit to develop. Read a variety of genres, fiction, nonfiction, science fiction, fantasy. Try a new genre you haven't read before. Also, visit Standing Bear's library. The Omaha Public Library has a summer reading program as well.
Students have memorized the multiplication chart through twelve. We are working on fractions. There are daily math assignments and students have time in class to start this assignment. Some students are able to complete their assignments in class, others may have to take their work home to complete. Students should take their math books home as a resource to complete their assignments and for parents to see the lesson. Go Math can also be accessed from Think Central Office365 using their email. Students know their passwords and logins.
Practice your addition, subtraction, multiplication basic facts. Memorize your multiplication facts through 12 over the summer.
