Welcome to Mrs. Stoffel's Class! I am located in room 19. I am so excited about meeting all of you! I am looking forward to having a very fun and successful school year.
Remember to read every night and practice your math facts!
August 12th- Back to School Night- 6:00-7:00 p.m.
August 16th- First Day of School
This year in math we will be practicing addition and subtraction with and without regrouping, money, telling time, and place value. Below are some links you can go to to work on these skills at home. We are also practicing our math facts at the following website: www.xtramath.org
Your child has a pin number to practice their individualized timed tests.
Guided reading is a major part of a balanced literacy program in our classroom. During guided reading students read as the teacher guides them through the story. Daily reading at home will be an important part of your child's second grade reading program. Every minute your child spends with a book brings him or her closer to becoming a fluent reader. When you child reads to you, ask them questions (Who, What, Where, When, and Why) about what they are reading.
We are doing the Daily Five in Reading. Everyday we are Reading to Self, Reading to Someone, Word Work, Working on Writing, and Listening to Reading.
