Class Schedule

This is the tentative 2017-2018 Classroom Schedule

8:40-8:50 Arrival

Please have your child wash their hands upon entering the room.

8:50-9:00 Attendance/Wash hands for breakfast

9:00-9:25 Breakfast

We will be eating breakfast in the classroom every morning.

 9:25-9:30 Brushing Teeth

Every child in Head Start will brush their teeth in the classroom once a day. This will either occur after breakfast or after lunch. I have found that it easier to do this in the morning.

 9:35-9:40 Opening Song

I like to open the morning with an upbeat song to get the children ready for the day.

 9:40-9:50 Circle Time/Calendar

We use the calendar to practice one to one correspondence, patterning and awareness of time.

 9:50-10:00 Group Time

During large group, I will introduce an activity related to the theme. We also discuss letter of the week during this time.

 10:00-10:30 Centers/Choice Time/Small Group

This is the most important time of the day! This is the time of day when the children choose which area they would like to play in! The children learn through play and this is a time for them to move freely around the room. We will also do small group activities during this time that relate to our theme.

10:30-11:00 Outside on the black top or playground (weather permitting)

11:00-11:30 Centers

 11:30-11:40 Clean up

11:40-11:45 Story Time

11:45-11:55 Restroom/Wash Hands

 12:00-12:25 Lunch

We also eat lunch in the classroom every day.

 12:30-2:00 Rest Time

We ask that your child bring a small blanket and pillow for this time of the day. Your child does not have to sleep during rest time. We will have young children who will need to sleep so we ask the children to lay quietly even if they don't fall asleep. This is a good time to let their minds and bodies rest.

 2:00-2:10 Wake Up/Restrooms/Clean Up Cots

2:15-2:45 Outside on the black top or playground (weather permitting)

2:45-3:45 Centers/Choice Time/Snack

This is our afternoon version of what happens in the morning during center time. Snack will be served during this time as a center choice.

3:45-3:50 Clean Up

 3:50-3:55 Closing Group Time/Dismissal

During this time, we will discuss the events of the day and summarize them.

All children must be picked up by 3:55.
