Mrs. Madsen’s Classroom Information 2020-2021
Welcome to Kindergarten! I am excited to be your child’s teacher this year!
Email:
molly.madsen@ops.org
Preferred Contact: SeeSaw App Messenger
School Phone Number: 531.299.2140
Seesaw App: Please download the SeeSaw App! It is a free app that will allow you to see any assignments and messages from me. It will also allow you to send me messages if you have any questions or concerns.
Arrival and Dismissal: School begins at 8:50 and ends at 4:00 for kindergarten. Grab and Go Breakfast is served at 8:35 every morning and is free for students. Students may begin entering the room at 8:35 with their breakfast. They are considered tardy if they arrive after 8:50, and they will need to check in at the office.
Daily Reminders:
- Have your child bring their
backpack every day
- Initial the calendar in the Take
Home Binder
- Put any important notes or
information in the Take Home
Binder
- Check the calendar for important
dates and upcoming events
- Return your iPad to school each in
person day
- Return assigned “at home” work
At Home Work: Your child will have work to complete on the days they are not attending school in person. This work will be a mixture of online activities and worksheet packets. Please return the worksheet packets on your child’s next in person learning day.
Conduct: Good behavior is expected and important to ensure a productive learning environment. We want to create a positive learning environment and will use positive redirections to reteach expected behaviors. If your child goes “above and beyond” they will get a “Paw” sticker in their calendar. These are special and should NOT be expected daily. 10 Paws = a prize box trip. If a child needs several redirections in a day, that will be indicated on the calendar or in a Seesaw message. No news is good news if the date is blank.
Transportation: Please communicate any and all transportation changes. You can message me directly or call the office. If there is an emergency, please call the office and inform them of any changes.
Change of Clothes: Accidents happen! Please provide a change of clothes labeled with your child’s name in the Ziploc bag provided.
Water Bottles: Drinking fountains will not be used this year. We do have a water bottle filler. Please send a water bottle with a lid and straw or spout. Label your child’s water bottle.
PE Days: Students will have PE either in the gym or outside (weather permitting). We ask that your child wear tennis shoes on these days. Please check the monthly cycle day calendar to see when your child has PE.
Lunch: Your child may bring a lunch or lunches may be purchased from the cafeteria. Please refer to the lunch menu to see what is being served each day. Our lunch time is still TBA. Unfortunately, at this time we cannot have visitors during lunch.
Birthdays: Birthdays are a big milestone for any child, and we love celebrating them with you! We cannot accept any edible treats. If you would like to send something with your child trinkets and pencils are a great non-edible treat. Donating a game or book to the classroom is another great way to celebrate!
Snack: We will have snack time each afternoon. Each child will be responsible for their own snack. Students may bring in several snacks at once and store them in their locker. Please do not send any snack that contains peanuts, tree nuts or peanut butter. We are a peanut and tree nut free classroom.
