Quick Facts about Summer Library

1. Summer library is open to anyone. You do not have to sign up, just drop in. All presenters and activities are FREE!

2. Summer Library Public Hours: 

Monday & Wednesday: 8:45-12:00, 3:00-3:50
Tuesday: 8:45-3:50
Thursday: 8:45-10:00, 12:30-3:50
Friday: 8:45-12:00, 2:30-3:50

Our theme is "Libraries Rock." Children accompanied by an adult or caregiver over 13 years old are welcome during public hours to check out books, attend story time, make crafts, play, and listen to Tuesday presentations.

4. Weekly crafts are available on a drop-in basis during public hours each day until 3:30PM. Crafts are best suited for children ages 5+.  

5. Story times are best suited for children aged 5 years old and under.

7. Standing Bear Library is in partnership with Omaha Public Library so come in and get signed up to enter the Omaha Public Library reading contest. You can do turn in all of your hours and collect the prizes right here at Standing Bear. We will turn in all the necessary forms for you!! Reading incentive prizes can be won for reading, writing in your free journal or attending the library activities provided.    

8. You may check out great books to read for the summer. If you leave on vacation, just return the books the first week of school.

Announcing THE 2017-2018

Primary Division Kindergarten - Third Grade
 
These books will be read during library classes to all classes beginning with preschool and going through the third grade.  The students will be included in the voting process during the spring to help Nebraska determine which book will be chosen as the
2017-2018 Golden Sower Children's Choice Award Picture Book

Intermediate Division ~ 4th Grade
 Students in 4th Grade who have read at least 4 of the below intermediate books will get to vote for their favorite and receive a prize for participating. These  books will not be read in library due to the length of the stories.  Please ask for a Golden Sower review sheet to complete after each reading. All reviews must be turned in to a librarian at least 4 stories. The winners will be announced in early May.

Library Birthday Club

Book Celebration Club

JOIN THE BIRTHDAY CLUB

Announcing the beginning of the Book Celebration Club. This is more than just a birthday recognition program. Students may purchase a hard back book of their choice and donate it to the library in honor of any occasion. You can dedicate a book to a teacher or staff member, a loved one, in remembrance of someone, or to celebrate a birthday. Just click on the download button and fill out the form. Print it, get a parent signature and bring the book and the permission form to the library. We will place a donation sticker in the front of the book with the message you wrote on your form. Then we will take your picture and once the book is processed, you will be the first person to check the book out!
